By in-depth analyzing and understanding various acquired visual information such as images and videos, Visual Computing aims to assist users to better perceive and interact the dynamic 3D scene in a highly intelligent style. This direction thus involves a range of multi-disciplinary research aspects in computer graphics, computer vision, machine learning, multimedia and signal processing, and its advances have been widely used in many application areas, such as entertainment (movies, games and advertisements), communications, virtual reality, remote education and so on. In these contexts, we explore the key technological challenges on 2D image analysis, multiview and 3D video processing, media interaction and editing, scene understanding, modelling of 3D visual content, etc. Our main purpose is to develop a vriety of advanced approaches to provide efficient and user-friendly visual data capturing, representation, interaction and display solutions, by which we strive to produce prospective techniques and functional proof-of-concepts with various real-world applications.
Besides that, we are concerntrating on cross-edge cyber science topics for visual content, such as image, video and 3D mesh steganography, sensitive content analysis and editing, and robust watermarking. By developing high-capacity, high-performance and robust modern technical algorithms, we aim to greatly enhance the applicabilities of massive visual content in our daily life.
